The HMC Mathematics Department is hiring a student editorial assistant to help populate Scholarship@Claremont with HMC faculty and student research.
Scholarship@Claremont is the Claremont Colleges platform for archiving and disseminating faculty and student publications. The student hired will work through faculty CVs to determine which version of the paper the publishers will allow to be posted and then put that version online taking care to note when a student has co-authored.
We are looking for someone who is a cross between Sherlock Holmes (the original, not the 2009 film version) and Super Librarian.
The position will pay $12/hour. Note that for 10 weeks of work this summer you would be paid $4,800 (about the same as an HMC Summer Research Experience) and would be eligible for housing an HMC. The position could possibly continue through the school year (with decreased hours of course).
You will gain experience in research, publishing and scholarly communications... and a paycheck. HMC gains a robust showcase of faculty and student work.
You will be trained by Allegra Gonzalez, at the library's Center for Digital Initiatives. Work will be done at the CDI Production Lab located at 2038 W. 11th St. - 2.5 miles from campus, so you'll need a mode of transportation. You could say you are outsourced.
If you are interested, please send an email to email@example.com with
